FINAL ATOMIC BUSSSTERRRRRRRR!!!!
Well, today rocked. Over the weekend I got a new vehicle! Check out my car! It was named "F-Zero" Lol. Wonder why? If you know me...you know its my favorite racing game.

Here's how it all went. (Well, not quite, I actually picked up driving again very smoothly...but I was thinking about this most of the time.)
Also, a nice delivery got here today. If you can infer from the title, its my first human revoltech-Zangief! Its made from the SF online series.
The cool thing from the Revoltech line is an invention by Masuhiro Nightow, the Revolver Joint. Its a great joint that allows for vaious fits and poses to maintain stability as well as a great degree of rotation for a pose. Its a great idea, and of course makes for cool figures!

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today has been an aggravating day. I am keeping positive, but boy is that ever rough sometimes! I suppose the greatest of optimists have their moments.
Anyway, I came across some great art, and was just so overwhelmed with conflicting emotion that I thought I'd write about it. Now, all of my friends know how I feel about Street Fighter, namely the fourth installment.
I found some work of how it COULD have looked. Its more than ridiculous that the final product was so.....different.

This could have been Ryu's sprite, had the game been two-dimensional and hand drawn. I'd like to have seen a derivative of this, rather than the model we recieved. I planned on, just for my enjoyment and for learning experience, tracing over this model and creating some SF4 sprites, its something I may still do, if I learned how to animate a bit better. Anyway, check out this stage.
This "Amazon" stage could have been a bit smarter. In fact, I knew in its inception it HAD to be. Of course, I was right. Had the game been more of Ikeno's vision, that stage would have been far more well-planned and appealing.

Notice the greater amount of nature in the stage! A bridge that looks like a BRIDGE! No stupid cartoon animals hanging out and watching a fight! Even story tie-ins! There is Blanka's makeshift home in the stage! He lives out of the crashed plane and eats those fish (which he grills in an Alpha 3 winpose.) Its just far better. Instead we get 3d models....that are random, and obviously not liked by Ikeno...they just can't be. I can see WHAT they are trying to do, its just odd that its only noticeable or good looking in certain places.

Now, Juri here looks damn awful, however somethings are good here. I like the speed lines and effects a bit more than normal, and Ryu (sans his face) almost look like a painting...ALMOST. Not quite. Because as soon as he moves again...its back to oddness.

Anyway, I guess that the 3d stuff sells now. Its discouraging, and surely isnt helping myself or anyone I know to want to work in such an industry anymore. Especially when the following two pictures (which I've given a little annotation to) are considered cool.

Sigh.
I think a page of Bakuman describes how I feel the best. Another friend of mine has heard this opinion, but its really a great summary.

Anyway. I'm wanting to stay positive, its just frustrating when you cant learn what you want...and the market doesn't support it anyway! Though, the positive persevere! Until tomorrow!

"Rakugaki"

A friend of mine had been doing a set of Rakugaki posts, since he was inspired from a friend of a friend.
Lol...I said "friend" alot in that sentence, eh?
Anyway, not a real post of anything great,(I felt that I had to update with something...to keep the momentum going) just the sketches I did yesterday,(mainly observational and near-copies of some work I liked...trying to emulate linework) and I haven't drawn much today. I got off of work and since I've only read articles and done research, and I'll be doing some studies all day tomorrow. I'm working on re-compiling a book of all of the awesome things my professor, Paul Hudson taught and I've been taking photos of various situations. Perhaps I'll post some of that stuff on here, but its really only interesting to someone learning about lighting and form study. (Which if you are an artist...thats a great thing.)
I've also been working on my graphic novel! The story is being finalized and my flatbook and pages will start after its all in print form. Thanks for all of the feedback from anyone who has talked to me, namely Spenser (for lots of late night discussions and debate.) It is all truly appreciated.
Until tomorrow....for now, I'm going to be reading some Kinnikuman! Funny book!

HypePAINT

Today's practice was used to help myself learn how to paint a bit better. Cel-coloring is easy, but getting a more painterly look takes a bit more thought. I'm working on some things, and reading and observing a lot. Namely, I've learned a few things.
1. Its easier to paint with a much cleaner drawing, coloring over a loose sketch will...well, look like thats exactly what you did.
2. Brushes are very important, getting the right one for the marks is crucial.
3. Lay down receding shadows and cooler colors first. I think that will make everything make sense. I did that last and that probably wasn't wise. Everything is a bit saturated, and there are some blending adjustments I'd like to work on. I'll be sure to take that into account with tomorrow's painting.
And of course, my video of the moment:

TIGERRRRRR!!!

So, I did a quick sketch of Ryu to mark a special occasion. I suppose this was my birthday present to myself, and its something I wanted since I was a kid.
Take a look at what I now own!

Thats right...Its a STREET FIGHTER 2 ' CABINET! I've had great fun playing it today, and I've ordered A CPS3 board and I'm getting Jojo's Venture and SF3 NEW GENERATION WITH IT!!!!! I mainly want an SF3 cabinet, however, with company and or desire...I will probably swap out the other games from time to time. I plan to finally play Warzard this way, and whenever I get Shawn to visit...MARVEL SUPER HEROES.

Needless to say, I was really excited! This will go great in the small game room my mom and I are setting up!
So... I played my mom in SF.
I picked Sagat, and she was navigating around the screen, and saw Balrog, and said, "Hey! Its Tyson!" I lol'd and was like...."Well...yeah, haha." So she picked him and we fought in China. As we played she said, "Why doesnt he kick?" I replied, "He's boxer." She then said, "Well...YOU'RE kicking!" And I replied, "Well...I'm a kickboxer." She did well the first round and was done. It was cool to she her play it though. So far, she'll play SF and Darkstalkers, lol.

LATEEF WINS!
(And why does that dude get rocked so hard in the intro!? DAMN!)
